July 31, 2020 -- The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has prompted the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) to move the 2021 edition of its annual conference back several months, to August in Las Vegas.

HIMSS 2021 will take place August 9-13, according to the organization's website. The group said that registration and hotel reservations will open up in the fall. The 2021 edition of the conference had originally been scheduled for March 1-5.

HIMSS was also forced to cancel the 2020 edition of its meeting, just days before the event was scheduled to begin on March 9 in Orlando, FL. The conference was one of the first of a series of meeting cancellations and postponements that resulted from the COVID-19 outbreak.
